Kernbeis, Franz

Franz Kernbeis’ figurations are compact organisms, mobile only in an archaic manner. Kernbeis begins by first outlining his motives briskly and tenderly. He supplies his vehicles or architectural structures with a graphic skeleton, partitions them, makes them multi cellular. Details arise from loops, knots and sectional quantities. The dense hatchings, the almost homogenous application of colour, endow his drawings with their hermetic quality, as if they were diligently packaged and laced up.
