Selhorst, Joseph

It seems as if the artist has made three drawings on top of each other: the foundation is a landscape depicting a treeline drawn with a strong perspective – mirrored in a stream – that carries the eye towards a blue-pink landscape in the upper section. In the foreground we see a grass field with red flowers. The second layer is formed by five naked women in various poses and elevations, displaying their femininity. There could be more than five, as several flesh coloured elements are difficult to place. The women seem to be performing a dance, apparently on the lawn, but on closer inspection they form a circle that floats in the air. One lady stands on her hands, drawn upside down. The top layer of the drawing is a transparent man’s head with a large nose, moustache, beard and a thick head of hair, looking down upon the scene of whirling female bodies. Green curved lines belong both to the lawn and the male phantom.
