Defontaine, François

François Defontaine’s artistic development is surprising. After he started copying TV programs, he then had his animal period, but his great discovery was the female nude via the work of Modigliani. For him the nude is not the representation of the desired woman, the woman stereotyped by the fashion models. No, his woman is a caryatid, shown face-on, rigid, with barely any arms or legs, a trunk woman with her attributes conspicuously presented. François goes direct to the essential: the sign.
He works in La Pommeraie painting studio.
