Boer, Jan de

Until 1990 Jan de Boer has been working as a chemical-microbiological researcher at the University of Amsterdam. Acute psychic problems forced him to quit his job. Demons in his brains urged him to draw and paint. He became an obsessive draughtsman. He felt the need to follow classes in drawing and painting to master several materials and techniques, but this instruction became an obstruction for the personal content. He was looking for his individual path, with his personal images and handwriting. Also from the mid 1990’s Jan de Boer began creative writing, leading to several publications over the years. From 2013 on he experiences more calm and rest in his drawing activity. His technique changed from forceful drawing in harsh colours to soft images. He creates small series of surreal and magical drawings, mostly in cloloured pencils.
