A brief historical survey of exhibitions and activities of Collection De Stadshof.

1994 Museum De Stadshof opens its doors in October. Donation of a series of works by artists from the Haus der Künstler, Gugging, Oostenrijk. Exhibition about the Gugging artists.

1995 Acquisition of the Plokker Collection (ca. 1200 items) and the Collection Glerum. Exhibition ‘Adolf Wölfli: Cosmic travels‘ (with publication).

1996 Exhibitions about ‘Michel Nedjar’, the ‘Collection Arnulf Rainer‘ (with catalogue), ‘Ateliers van de ziel‘ (with catalogue and symposium), ‘Théa Gérard‘ and ‘Le Jardin enchantée‘.

1997 Exhibition Het Formaat: 1000 miniaturen, ‘Riet van Halder‘ en ‘Out of India‘. Acquisition of 9 works of Willem van Genk and 40 works of Siebe Wiemer Glastra (both with financial support of the Mondriaanstichting)

1998 Exhibitions ‘Willem van Genk: Een getekende wereld‘ (with publication, travelling to Lausanne and Bönnigheim), ‘Tobias Jessberger & Willibald Lassenberger‘, ‘Allina Ndebele‘, en ‘Henk Veenvliet‘. Acquisition of work of Carlo Zinelli and Aaltje Dammer. African Festival.

1999 Symposium ‘The end of raw art?’. Exhibitions about Madge Gill, ‘Naïeven van Curaçao‘, ‘Meesters uit de marge‘ (with catalogue), ‘Oswald Tschirtner‘ and ‘Hans Langner‘. Acquisition of 36 works of Tobias Jessberger and Bertus Jonkers’ ‘Ideal City’. Antillian Festival. Exhibition ‘Disturbed Monarchs‘ showing Van Genk, Nek Chand and Theo from De Stadshof in Museum Dr Guislain, Ghent.

2000 Publication of Colin Rhodes’ ‘Outsider Art: Spontaneous Alternatives‘, including many works from collection De Stadshof. Hanze-cities exhibition ‘Bruggen slaan‘. Exhibition ‘Roy Wenzel. Works on Paper‘ in Loughborough University Gallery and University College Northampton, England.

2001 Exhibition ‘Russische naïeven‘. Publication of ‘Marginalia: Perspectives on outsider art‘, with essays of Ans van Berkum, Roger Cardinal, Jos ten Berge and Colin Rhodes. Exhibition ‘Koppelingen‘ in Flemish Culturale Center, Amsterdam. Acquisition of work of Carlo Zinelli, Nek Chand and Roy Wenzel. Exhibition Van Genk & Glastra in Ghent.

2002 Moving of the collection naar Gent and opening exhibition ‘Outsiders: Collectie De Stadshof‘.

2003 Participation in exhibitions: ‘La tête a l`envers‘, Abbaye de Brogne in Brogne, ‘Common People‘ in de Witte Zaal in Gent, ‘Het verhaal van de maker‘ in Internationaal Perscentrum; Den Haag, ‘Buiten/Gewoon‘, Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Mol en ‘Tekenen des Tijds‘ in KW14, ‘s Hertogenbosch.

2004 Work of De Stadshof on show in ‘INSITA, 7th Triennial of Self-Taught Art’, in the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava. Further during the Olympic Games in Municipal Gallery in Athens and during the exhibitions ‘La tête ailleurs‘ in Université Catholique de Lille, ‘Zie tekening‘ in the Stedelijk Museum Wuyt-Van Campen and Baron Caroly in Lier, ‘Outsiderkunst‘ in the Tentoonstellingshuis Hellemans in Edegem, ‘Raw Vision, Equal rights to creativity‘ in the Mexico Gallery in London, exhibition ‘Luiz Figueiredo‘ in Rotterdam, ‘Let’s go outside‘ in La Condition Publique in Lille.

2005 Froim 18 February upto 15 May De Stadshof takes part of the exhibition ‘Zonderlinge denkbeelden‘ in the Paleis voor Schone Kunsten (Bozar) in Brussels.

2005 From 1 July till October 2005: work from Collectie De Stadshof on show in the Centrum voor Beeldvorming Evenbeeld in Angerlo. The exhibition comprises40 works of 12 twaalf renowned national and international artists. www.evenbeeld.org.

2005 Under the name ‘Spelmakers’ reopening in November in Museum Dr Guislain in Ghents of a new selection from the collection De Stadshof. Pieces of the collection were shown at two thematic exhibitions ‘Het Hart‘ and ‘Pijn‘ in the Museum Dr Guislain.

2006 Uit de Collectie De Stadshof zijn stukken uitgeleend voor exposities ‘Oltre la Ragione‘ in Bergamo en ‘Paul Duhem: Autoportrait‘ in Doornik.

2007 De expositie ‘Spelmakers‘ is op een aantal punten gewijzigd en het gehele jaar te zien geweest. Daarnaast zijn er werken beschikbaar gesteld voor de tentoonstelling ‘Beautés Insensées‘ in het Musée National de Monaco; ‘INSITA, 8th Triennial of Self-Taught Art‘, Bratislava, ‘Mannetjes‘ in Galerie Atelier De Herenplaats, Rotterdam, ‘Cardiogramme‘ in MAMAC in Luik, ‘Passie voor het ongrijpbare. Mens en religie in hedendaagse kunst‘ in Museum Vlaamse Minderbroeders te Sint Truiden en ‘Schets of Schim – over architectuur en intuïtie‘, in Museum Dr. Guislain in Gent.

2008 Eind mei werd in het Museum Dr. Guislain in Gent een nieuwe vaste opstelling gepresenteerd van een selectie uit de Stadshof-collectie, met als titel ‘Hidden Worlds‘. info: www.museumdrguislain.be

2008 Werk van Willem van Genk werd uitgeleend voor de expostite ‘Heterotopia‘ in het Deutsche Architekturmuseum (DAM) Frankfurt/Main, van 31 mei tot 24 augustus.

2008 Haarlem. In December  in Haarlem about forty works of fifteen artists, as part of the ‘Haarlemse Outsiderkunstdagen’ (a combination of exhibition and fair).

2009 Verbeke Foundation. From 23 May till 15 November: ‘Backyard Genius’. This exhibition will be held at the Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke (B). Exhibition theme: technical en architectonic visions. On show work of fifteen artists.

2010 Verbeke Foundation, ‘Collectie De Stadshof versus Verbeke Foundation’. De Stadshof en Verbeke Foundation gaan in een reeks presentaties kunstwerken uit beide verzamelingen met elkaar confronteren. 2010 ‘INSITA, 9th Triennial of Self-Taught Art‘, Bratislava. For the competitive section several assemblages were sent in of Markus Meurer. Voor de thema-expositie over textiel werden borduurwerken van Siebe Wiemer Glastra in bruikleen gegeven.

2010 Haarlem. 2e edition of the ‘Outsider Kunst Dagen’, Haarlem. Collectie De Stadshof shows work of three artists picturing traumata and anguish: Truus Kardol, Ank van Pagée and Sylvain Cosijns.
